DJI GO4 & DJI Fly camera settings
DJI GO 4 - The camera settings that consistently produce the best images
Now that we know which settings are available and how they affect the image, we can look more practically at which settings will provide the best conditions for good images in the vast majority of situations. The examples are based on a DJI Mavic 2 Pro with the DJI RC1B controller connected to an iOS device, but the same logic is applicable regardless of drone or camera.
Note that DJI Fly might look different, but the same settings shall be applied at DJI Fly as in DJI GO 4. The settings can be found at the bottom of the screen in DJI Fly.
'S' exposure program
Lets the camera automatically adjust the light/exposure but lets us lock the shutter at a value we choose manually. This allows us to force the camera to a higher shutter value and avoid 'motion blur'.
Tick in auto ISO
To achieve the correct light/exposure, we need to give the camera permission to automatically change the ISO value. We do that by ticking 'Auto'.
Set the shutter to a minimum of 1/500
To avoid 'motion blur', we should never choose a shutter value lower than 1/500. If it is very bright on a summer day, we can advantageously set the shutter to 1/1000.
Set EV to +0.0
As a rule, this gives the best light/exposure.
Choose image size 4:3 or 3:2
This means that the entire surface of the image sensor is used to register the image and we get the highest possible image resolution.
Select JPG as the image format
JPG is the image format compatible with the analysis process.
Custom white balance set to 5600K
This produces the most consistent and neutral colors in the image.
Tick in AFC mode
This means that the camera will always automatically adjust the focus so that all images are sharp.
Select AFC mode
This means that the camera will automatically set the correct focus.
